Spending Money for Experiences
Hi all! Today I left for vacation with my mom and my sister. We are departing for a cruise tomorrow!! It has been so long since I have been on vacation so I am really excited.
What is even better is that it is a girls trip with my mom and sister. We haven’t all been on a girls trip together since my sister was about 4 years old (now she is almost 15)! So it is definitely overdue. Time is so precious to me when it comes to family and spending time with them! It always feels so great to be surrounded by your family.
Surprisingly, we booked this trip 3 weeks ago!! WHAT! I know that is crazy right!? We were actually the last ones to get a room on the ship! It was almost completely full. But, sometimes last minute surprise trips turn out to be the best ones. A few years ago, me and some girlfriends in college took a last minute trip to Florida and we had the time of our lives. This is why I think it is important to just go with the flow and go on those last minute trips that you didn’t plan for! You never know how much you’ll really enjoy it and remember it for the rest of your life. Memories are precious!
This trip is extra special to me and is so close to my heart. If you follow me on my social channels, you most likely know that we found out that my mom has Stage IV cancer. It has been harder than anything in my life that I have ever experienced, but we try to stay positive and we are really leaning on and trusting in God. Every day is a great day and life is so precious. My mom said about a month ago, “lets go on a trip, just you, me and your sister.” Not for one minute did I disagree with that or should anyone else whenever your mom or dad gives that opportunity to you to spend that one on one time with them.
This week I will treasure and be forever thankful for this trip because it is something that we will remember for the rest of our lives. I think that spending money on experiences rather than spending money on things is great. Experiences gives you something to remember and cherish. It gives you memories, things to look back on and things to make you look forward to! It also can always give you things to look back on and laugh and think how great that “one time was”. In my opinion, it is a great way to spend money! Even when I was in college and we all didn’t have a lot of money to spend, my best friends and I would just all pitch in together to go on a last minute trip or a concert. We always made it work because we knew that those memories would forever be in our minds. My mom is pretty awesome, they believed in going to events and having fun, so they have always helped that!
What are some of your favorite “last minute trip” memories? Or, just memories? Do you like to experience things or the world? Are you a traveler?
I look forward to sharing this trip with you all and what I thought about the cruise ship that I am going on, the places we traveled too and what I would suggest for going on a cruise, when I get back! 🙂
